Clean and Graphic

Today I'm doing it backwards, I usually write a post and then find pictures that seem to match the mood. Today it seems that I'm just posting some pretty and while I'm getting the images together I might find something interesting to say.

These pictures are kind of how I hope my summer goes, clean and simple. It's been nice so far but it's only been a week. Am I too crazy to hope it keeps up? Yes I know I'm freaking bonkers. It's OK, please let me keep on with my illusion that I will have the perfect summer.

I do post more of my day to day on Instagram so follow me there too my handle is @sarahsfabday.

Firsts and Gray

It's a first, Big had a friend sleepover. He loved hanging with a friend all day and I loved it that there was no entertaining on my end, only feeding. And lots of it. Eight year old boys are hungry. I'm a little scared to find out how hungry in a few years...

Gray is lovely don't you think? Still totally not sick of it.

Lunches and some eye candy

Morning peeps, Friday already?! What's going on this weekend, anything fabulous? Me not really, but that's ok because we're just getting ready for the last weekend before the kids go back to school. School supplies, uniforms, shoes, check. Now it's back to thinking about the dreaded lunch packing. You've heard me commiserate over what to pack these last two years and now I have two kids to pack for.

Easy you say? Not really so much. I have one who's pretty easy it's my newest little kinder who is the challenging one. Like ultra-picky, sensitive to food texture and looks, we went to feeding therapy kind of  kid. He's broadened his horizons considerably over the summer but I'm getting scared for the lunches. I'll just stay positive, for now. So instead of thinking of ice packs and sandwiches I'll think of pretty homes and where I wish I could live.

Does Tyler come with the kitchen?

I was just browsing the House Beautiful website when I noticed that their kitchen of the year was up. I like it! It was designed by Tyler Florence (who I think it adorable btw) and I think I would be quite happy to whip up a meal in his kitchen.

I didn't snag any of the wide shot because I prefer the vignettes but you can see it all here.

Warming up

How was your Mother's Day Mommies?  Mine was good, my kids were sweet but I was beat. Is it weird that I'm happy it's Monday? We had a very busy weekend so today has been my catch up day. Little is done with school and I'm a little sad, it's official he's a big kid headed to real school. Cry.

It's hot here already but I imagine those of you that live in chilly places are excited to see the warm weather am I right? I'm looking forward to the lazy days of summer vacation that's for sure.

My itinerary

Well I wish. A nice hot bath followed by a long nap.

It is not to be today kids. I actually NEED to hit the gym, I've been a bad workouter lately. So bad you might be able to hum a little ditty about me not fitting through the bathroom door. So Monday here we are again. ugh.

Be bold

I love neutral palettes with bold colors. Totally goes with the warm weather don't you think?

This last image totally just reminded me of my love for overdyed rugs. Totally on my fantasy list.

Live like Sheryl Crow

Last summer when Elle featured Sheryl Crow's New York apartment we all swooned. It was warm, quirky and had life.

Now we all really want to be friends with her because her Hollywood home that was featured in Architectural Digest is equally inviting.

With teepees for the kids and outdoor tents complete with electricity doesn't that just scream for long conversations and jam sessions? Sheryl I'm your girl, I promise I'm fun!

Birds, scones and weekend plans

There is this bird that has been driving me bonkers for about a month. His weird little wake up call is beginning to wear out it's welcome. Since I was up early because of  the bird and was feeling like a nice mom I made fresh scones for the littles. Fail. Well success for me and fail for them. I'm always trying to master scones. Finding the perfect recipe all while trying to be a teeny bit healthy using half whole wheat flour. This is tricky business because using whole wheat flour often makes baked goods a bit heavier than normal with a nutty flavor that is sometimes off putting to little pickies. So today's recipe had the perfect texture but apparently wasn't sweet enough for the shrimps, arrgghh! I was even being extra nice and made glaze to go over the top and put chocolate chips in, oh well back to the drawing board.

This weekend I have a few things on the books which includes a Moms Club (for Big's school) Spa Night function at a local salon (I won't lie, I'm totally looking forward to a mani, pedi and glass of wine tonight), the usual Saturday morning teaching and dinner out somewhere TBD for my father in law's birthday. Speaking of which I need to do some research on where to go for a fun adults only dinner out. Locals, any suggestions? What do you guys have going on?

On another note I know this picture really doesn't have anything to do with what we talked about; but since I spent some time in the kitchen this morning I thought I should at least include one. I originally saved this Elle Decor image because I love they way they displayed their children's art. I have a big soft spot for kids art. The chairs, fixture and floor isn't bad either. My question is where do you stand on all the fabric being one pattern? It makes a statement that's for sure but it's not my favorite, too much. Are you of the mind a little is good but a lot is better a la Mary McDonald? Just curious.

It's Pink

I adore hot pink and so when I see pink chairs I get all sorts of happy mixed in with a little bit of wanty.

Have some fun!

Don't you think turquoise is such a cheery color? I think any rooms that have it just seem fun. Because I'm sure rooms just wannna have fun too don't you think? Any big plans for the weekend? Tonight it's the Jayhawks game, with my sister, her husband in town and my brother being alumni, it's our must see. Then this weekend it's a pilates workshop for me, I'll be working so please go out and have some fun in my honor!

Entries and a game

Ahh, the glorious weather! Yes it's the time of year that all you cold weather peeps are jealous of. We have bright, sunny gorgeous days that people come from all over to partake in. (Now their driving...that's a topic for another day.) Anyhow my sister and her husband flew in to go to a few Spring Training games so we're headed out for a day at the ballpark. (Total side note but I don't think I ever shared mys sister's wedding pics on this blog. I know I did at The Invitation Lady but in case you were wondering THIS is where we went in November. She was such a gorgeous bride!)

So to continue with the total randomness of this post here's a couple of entries that I've had socked away in my picture files. Love them.
