Crush Day

Last week I stumbled upon a great blog called Cool Mom Picks, cute, chic relevant stuff for Moms and Littles. I totally fell in love with the Mower Peace Tee from Pickle Papaya. I can just see my littles rocking this shirt!

Kitchen Couture

I will tell a little secret about myself, I love to bake! I'm not crazy about baking cookies because it takes too long, but anything else love it. There is just something about getting all that chemistry right, measuring the ingredients just so, not overmixing and getting the perfect texture that just gets me giddy. So when my sister gave me an apron from Anthropologie it was the perfect gift. There is just something about wearing an apron that makes me feel as though I can bake better, you know that June Cleaver vibe.

Yummy!

So it seems like lately I have seen these multicolored macarons all over the place. First I saw them in a Marc Jacobs documentary (they were an inspiration for a Louis Vuitton handbag, swoon) then I found out they were all over the Marie Antoinette movie by Sofia Coppola, which I suppose is no shock because they are BFFs. Yesterday I saw them on Hostess with the Mostess and that was the last straw, I had to post them too. I have never actually eaten a macaron, but they way they look alone is enough for me to want one. They just look like brightly colored yumminess! So I'm going to have to find some locally which in the desert may be a stretch but I sure will try.

AbFab

I have sent the link to my blog to family and friends and the funniest thing happened. My brother totally thought that the "Fab Day" thing was an homage to the show "Absolutely Fabulous". (Actually it's just the way that I talk, I love to shorten words. You know give them a nickname.) Honestly I haven't given AbFab a second thought in years. He knew that I used to love that show and it has got me thinking. Since there is nothing on TV, I might have to run out and rent them (if I can find them) and have an AbFab marathon. I might even try and make some of their crazy cocktails and toast Patsy and Eddy.

The Fabulousness

So let's just talk about the Oscars, we don't really need to break down the movies because sadly with my two shrimps I don't get to the movies terribly often. So let's get straight to it, the dresses! We can have our own Mommy version of the red carpet.

I have to say my favorite dress was actually Cameron Diaz's, I'm not a super big fan of pink but it looked great on her. Her hair was pretty casual and beachy, but since that's her look it's perfect

I also loved Marion Cotillard's gorgeous silver dress. Please see the earlier post about my love for all things shiny, that should say it all.

Last but not least Kerri Russell looked so beautiful and the dress fit her perfectly. I wasn't crazy about her wedding hair but the dress totally made up for that.

It looked the trend was red, but those dresses just didn't do it for me. Let's face it, the scale that I'm judging on is a little nit-picky because all of those women are stunning, but that's the way of the couch commando! Now I think I may just have to be a little snarky, but what is the draw of Miley Cyrus? I know I have boys so I haven't really ever watched Hannah Montana but I just don't love her.

Fill me in on who was your favorite!

Seriously, Nascar?

So tonight is the big night, the Oscars! The fabulous dresses, hairstyles, the dashing fellows and I can't believe I'm missing it. Well, truthfully I'm just missing the red carpet which I think is arguably just as important as the ceremony itself. I have been out voted for what we are watching. The kids of course want cartoons, but my husband and I can't bear another second of Wubzy, so he compromised and all of the "men" are watching Nascar. I like sports and all but Nascar?? The boys are crazy for the "Cars" movie so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they like Nascar but the fact that they are converting my husband into a raceophile is just beyond comprehension. Will wonders never cease!?

Happy weekend!

The weekend is here and I thought that I would just post something that I have a crush on. I love sparkly, shiny, brightly colored stuff and this spring j'adore green! I saw this handbag on Kate Spade and fell in love. It meets all my criteria for a fun spring handbag, what's not to love?

Oh thank goodness

Just a little side note, some days are much tougher than others with littles. Today I was pretty much at my wits end thinking that I might be raising a small tyrant. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my son (in action with others of course) is actually a rather pleasant, polite young man, thank goodness. : )

Looks too good!

I'm always looking for a meal that will appeal to mom, dad and the kiddos. This is a pretty tall order and doesn't happen very often, but that doesn't stop me from trying. I was perusing Cookie Magazine and they had a section called "Sneak it in: Tofu". Hmm...this got me thinking, will it work? Tofu Rigatoni Casserole, perfect! The recipe is from the owners of Red Pearl Kitchen (which I adore) so it's now a must-try. Take a peek it looks delicious.

School Days

My oldest son is in preschool and he attends Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I love the school, I love the other moms, and I love that he gets nice and tired. What I don't love is getting those boys ready in the morning. Trying to get myself ready and somewhat decent and get the boys dressed and fed is never easy. Honestly I feel as though I have already been through a marathon once I finally get somewhere. Too bad they don't have awards for mommies who can make it there in one piece, tummies all full and on time. Sounds good in theory but there is probably a reason for that, impossible!

To tie or not to tie?

Yesterday I finally made it to Old Navy, they are currently having a 40% off all kids and baby sale. Hoping to find some fabulous bargains I scoured both of the boys sections. I ended up just a smidge disappointed because I think I went too late and most of it was a little picked over. Then I spot them! The cutest boys slip-on canvas tennies. Not only are they cute, they are lace free which in my world these days is a major plus. With two boys aged 2 and 4 trying to tie laces in the middle of their running, jumping and crazy antics is just nuts.

First time for everything

So here I am working on my first actual blog. For fun of course and to practice because I'm going to be helping a friend with her blog. So I thought that I would keep this pretty limited to my day to day life with the hubby and the kiddos.

On that note, I will start out by saying it's Monday and that should say it all! So far so good, but it's only 2:30 so things could go South in a hurry. It has been one of those days though that coffee has sounded so yummy all day. Which is great until I'm ready to go to bed and I can't because I have given in to those coffee cravings. Maybe just one more cup...
