Dreaming :: Paris

I know we just got back from Italy but now that I've gotten a bad case of wanderlust and all I can think of is what I've always dreamed of, Paris.

I can't stop.

Maybe I should eat croissants and drink champagne? No I don't think that will do, I know the croissants won't even be close to the authentic ones. So for now I'll just stick with the champers and read HipParis  while wishing it were me there too.

So I'm Paris, where's your dream destination?

Do It :: Travel with kids

The best thing about traveling with school age kids is that those little crazies can handle a lot more than you give them credit for. I've been so pleasantly surprised that they handled the flight, crazy Roman traffic and another language without skipping a beat.

It also doesn't hurt that Italy is full of pizza and pasta so my carb loving kids are in heaven. My fears about international travel with kids are officially over. It's taken many years for us to do a trip to Europe with the kids but I know that I will be saving up my pennies again soon for a trip somewhere good.

Tripping

The Mr. and I just returned from a little weekend trip to Kansas City. Even though I don't really love winter (the really cold kind) I do like breaking out the sweaters and coats for one more round of layered dressing.

The clothes aside it's really nice to get away and recharge with the husband from time to time. Sometimes with the everyday stuff going on it's easy to forget why you like each other in the first place. Speaking of husbands and wives, have you all read A Blog About Love? I met Mara at Alt and she was so nice and stylish and when I had the opportunity to check out her blog I was floored. Such good stuff.

Roadtrippin'

We were driving to San Diego on Friday and I was suddenly kicking myself for not buying a big bag of Fritos and a pack of Sour Patch Kids. Seriously what is it about a long drive that makes things you would normally never buy sound like the world's most delicious treat? At the gas station one of those God awful Hostess Fruit Pies looked good. What the hell?! Don't worry I didn't get one but I did get the Fritos and Sour Patch Kids and decided to throw in a bag of Reese's Pieces for good measure.

What's your favorite roadtrippin' vice?

Pardon me...I've been busy getting ready to head here. I've really missed you though, promise.

I want a tea party

I think I have tea on the brain, big time.

Anyone else out there love to go have tea besides moi? Where are your favorite places? It's always fun to know the inside skinny on what's cool in other cities. Locally I love to have tea at the Phoenician Resort, you?

Small Spaces to Getaway

Who doesn't always dream about a small space to get away? When I was little I always dreamed about having my own little playhouse for my doll adventures. Is it too much to ask for a little getaway in the back yard now?Awhile back Erin from Villa Pacis blogged about vacationing in a gypsy caravan (so cute you must check it out), it got me to thinking about a book I had read as a child. Since I already had my romantic notions about what it would be like images like this make it even more exciting.
Not to mention the other day I was driving right beside a classic Airstream and I was smitten. So the whole way home I tried to figure out how to finagle one of those into my life.
What's your little getaway fantasy?

See ya!

We're off to take our big for his first Disneyland vacay. Just a quick two day trip, I hope he loves it. I must admit I adore the contrived perfectness of it all. Not a piece of trash in sight and the flowers are always gorgeous.

Wish us luck that the rides aren't too scary and the food isn't too gross. Any big plans for you this weekend?

Vacay recap

I'm back! What a great couple of days. We did have a little snafu yesterday because we missed our flight home but other than that it was wonderful. The lovely Camila was kind enough to set some wine tastings up for us and we thoroughly enjoyed her choices. They were off the beaten path and beautiful. Not only did I drink enough wine to last me a while I'm pretty sure that I just ate my way through my vacation.

I'm still dreaming about one my new found favorite restaurants in San Francisco called Delfina. YUM! Not to mention I'm really missing the Bouchon Bakery and Bistro. At least now I have some new things to look forward to when I head back there.

Let's do some star gazing

For those you that read this blog regularly you know that I'm not an outdoorsy type girl, unless it consists of cocktails on a patio somewhere.

I was browsing Apartment Therapy and found the fabulous Hotel Elquidomos in Chile. Each room is a geodesic dome equipped with a detachable roof and a telescope to do some star gazing.

It looks like an outdoor fantasy world, this is more like it!
