Seeing Yellow

Is it just me or have I been seeing a lot of vibrant yellow lately? I love it.

Shut down

I went out today to find shoes for my little and I wanted to see this baby in person while I was at it. No such luck.
Hurry up J. Crack with your Fall goodies, I'm ready to play.

Etsy personal shopping

This morning I did a little Etsy shopping and here's what I found.

My trip started off with this adorable child's chair. I've always really wanted a vintage child's desk you know the ones that are all one piece? Well I've yet to find one, I live in a city with little to no good vintage shopping.

Next up some industrial bins, I love how they look all stacked up.

A great fan.

Here's where my trip gets kinda sad, I'm posting girl's vintage pink play kitchens. I have no girls. So I suppose I'm shopping vicariously for some of my favorite preggo bloggers (yes I'm talking you sweet Amber, Erika & Melisa) who are expecting darling girls.

And to finish of my trip a dolls highchair, cute stuff.

S'mores Cookies

Right now I feel like stuffing my face with a big plate of cookies. These would be just the ones.

But I won't, I'll be good {boo!}. I will just dream about them for now until I have a reason to make them.

Green and fresh

I'm hot and tired and can't think of anything to say. Can you imagine? So for now while I gather my wits with a cold drink, I'll leave you with something fresh and green.

Monday

Mondays, I don't really mind them. With your first cup of coffee your mind usually wanders and your tummy flips with anticipation of the coming week. What's going to happen? Is it going to be a good one or a crummy one?

I'm thinking it's going to be good! You?

Shopping Trip

My mom and I try to sneak off for a couple of hours every couple of weeks to do a little shopping, yesterday was no exception. Our trips usually consist of checking out what's new at the cute local shops, mostly home stuff sometimes clothes. I brought my camera yesterday in case I found something really cool but instead I decided to just take a few snaps of my trip. We started off our trip at Frances (this is before I decided to take photos) adorable shop with lots of great clothing and jewelry. After that we headed next door to their new store Smeeks.
Think Candyland... and just as cute.

I ended up with a bag full of candy and cute cupcake papers.
Lots of little knick-knacky toys (my kids would have gone bananas for this place), old fashioned sodas and of course lots of candy. I planned on taking a photo of my loot but of course I ate it when we got home. I highly recommend the marshmallows with caramel and the chocolate taffy, to-die.
Next we decided to go to lunch at Pane Bianco it's the sister restaurant of the famous Pizzeria Bianco. I had never been there and my mother insisted that I try it, she was right it was delicious.

I had a sparkling water and a caprese sandwich. Everything about this was delicious, the bread was perfectly crispy and crusty on the outside and gorgeous on the inside. The mozzarella and tomatoes were fresh and luscious. I will be dreaming of this sandwich for the next couple of days.

{Here's a closeup of the goodness}
Next up was Haus, lots of modern and a very nice salesman. My mom is in the market for some new kitchen stools so we thought we would stop in for a look. They have the usual suspects but I was so surprised with their great baby stuff (note to self for friends babies). What I really wanted was to bring home a few of these pillows.

Our trip was going to end at the Waterworks showroom but it was closed on Saturday. Boo! Next time if we can sneak away during the week this is on my list.

My fun shopping excursion ended with my babysitting my new little cutie pie nephew. Don't his toes look perfect for nibbling? He's gorgeous and so sweet he was the perfect ending to a fun day. How was your weekend?

Happy weekend

I can't believe Friday is already here, thank goodness. I love having Dad home on the weekends to help me rein in my crazies. Anyone else feel this way?

I don't have too many plans but I think I may squeeze in some shopping with Mom, a movie with my Big and maybe some pool time to cool off. What's on the agenda for you this weekend?

Sum me up

You know how you've seen the sum your style up in one photo blog posts? Well this is mine. This photo by Paul Schiefer, styled by Heidi Adams just got me the moment I looked at it. So many of the elements and colors are things that I have in my own home. I would say while I'm a girly girl I like lots of vintage with a bit of masculine flavor.

The buttons and deck of cards really stood out for me because I've been hunting for vintage goodies to fill some apothecary jars I purchased. I've settled on vintage game pieces like dominoes, chess pieces and cards but I've had a hard time finding them. I'm thinking of having the kids just rough up and dirty a few decks of cards on the sidewalk just so I can fill at least one. Anyhow I just had to share me in one snap, have you found yours?

Who is voting for this clown?

I wasn't too sad to see Jason go but seriously when is Evan going to been sent packing?Don't get me wrong he's not terrible but he's not that good and his shtick has gotten old. If you're an Evan lover please tell me why in the comments below, I'm baffled.

PS - I was totally sad to see Janette go home. :(

Cutest lunchbox ever

Can you tell I'm in kids/back-to-school mode? Sorry for the lack of designery pretties but no worries they will be back asap. Last week I posted personalized water bottles for The Invitation Lady and today on the Cookie blog I saw these. OMG so adorable and environmentally friendly.Makes me wish I was packing a lunch.

Easy baby gift

I don't think I ever showed you the burp clothes that we made for my cutie pie new nephew. Cute right? Easy too!
Disclaimer: I say we but it was pretty much my mom. I rounded up all of the materials, cut and pinned the ribbon and she did all of the sewing. I'm the gopher.

Craziness

Don't mind me, we've been busy today. First I found this guy, eeeeek!

Then a bit later I saw this.

What I really want to say is, "Back at ya kid, I feel the same way." No worries I'll restrain myself. :)

Julie & Julia

I'm chomping at the bit to see Julie & Julia. Last summer I read My Life in France, I just got a peek at Julia's kitchen set created for the movie and I think Amy Adams is simply adorable. Recipe for a delish movie.

Any of you excited as moi?

Hot shoes

Normally purple isn't really my favorite but I tried these on at Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale (my favorite sale of the year) and loved them. They are much cuter in person and on your tootsies, I assure you.

Then I saw these on Kate Spade.

Purple just may be my fave fall color.

My weekend

Morning lovelies! My weekend was hot, hot, hot. Eeek! Thankfully we got a little respite from the searing heat of the Valley. We drove to Tucson and spent Saturday night at a resort. Saturday was great 99 and cloudy, perfect pool weather.

How was your weekend? Anything exciting?

{Thanks Jaimee for my book on deck recommendation}

Baking some buns

Normally when I bake I try to steer clear of bread. It's hard because I get impatient with the rising and then with the kneading I never seem to get the right consistency. I know that it's something that you learn by touch but that takes a lot of bread baking and this girl only has so much time. However I think I may try some because these Brioche Buns from Smitten Kitchen are calling my name.

Seriously, how good do these look? I saw them this morning and have been thinking about them all day. Dreaming of hot fresh hamburger buns, crazy I know.

Please pray for Kate

There is a local little girl named Kate McRae who is suffering from a brain tumor. This hits so close to home not only because she is the age of my children but the church that the family attends is around the corner from me and one of my girlfriends is a close friend of the McRae family. The McRae's are spending as much time as they can with their daughter while praying for a miraculous recovery. You can read their story here. Little Kate has a long road ahead of her and their entire family could use some of your prayers.
{Kate}
In the meantime two of my girlfriends have generously offered their goods and services in an auction with proceeds directly going to the McRae family.
Kim from TomKat Studio has an invitation package to bid on.

Tina from Live.Love Photography has a photo session to bid on.

There could be other auctions going on right now but I'm going to start with these. I thought I would share this with you because the McRae family could use your support and Kim and Tina are great people with huge hearts and wonderful products. Please keep this family and all sick children in your prayers today, I would really appreciate it.

Long live McQueen

Doesn't this gorgeous McQueen frock remind you of a beautiful butterfly?

I would love to put it on and fly away.

Let's take a trip

It's Monday so I sit here with my afternoon pick me up (coffee natch) while browsing my favorite blogs. Nice.
Then I see this
and now I immediately want to move to France to rough it in this converted boat garage. Cafe au Lait's anyone?

Happy Weekend!

Let's talk about the heat...101 this morning at 9 and it actually started sprinkling. Cut to this afternoon and ugh all you have is a sweltering muggy afternoon. I'm hoping that this weekend makes up for the heat.
What do you have planned for the weekend? We have a grilled pizza party to attend on Saturday night and other than that nothing much.

Hope your weekend is fun and filled with smooches!
