Closet Take 1

After a bit of prodding I'm actually going to post my closet. This is what it's looked like since I cleaned it up. I'll admit usually there were shoes everywhere and the clothes were not organized by type, it was a total mish mash. I did have my pants and shirts separated but that's it, now it's a bit easier to navigate.

My half of the closet February 4th

Since I've done the sharing bit I've decided to post a picture of my closet at the beginning of each month since one of my goals was to keep it neat and tidy for the whole year. I promise if it's messy I'll post it, but I'm really hoping it will look good. I can't believe I'm typing this...cross your fingers that I keep it up because I don't really want to have to post a train wreck.

Saturday fun

Yay, now that my dishwasher is fixed I feel as though I can do more pleasure cooking than the bare minimum. I've actually never made cinnamon rolls but this recipe looks easy and good and I know the kids will love them Saturday morning.

Silhouettes

A long time ago I posted these wanting to make some myself. Well as usual it took me forever to do it and finally here they are. Ta da!

It was one of my new year's goals to actually make them so I'm pretty happy. So far so good on the goals front. I did organize my closet in case you all were wondering and now all I have left is to paint my doors. I've bought the paint I just need to designate a good weekend to do it. How are the goals going for you good or just so-so?

Thanks friend

This is Seleta

This is her beautiful home (and she has 4, yes 4 kids).

This is what she said to me yesterday:
Oooh, I hate that "transition time" with offspring after a trip. It's rough. I'm throwing out a few ideas for cheer.

Option a)Retail therapy binge and purge. Scope a favorite store and find something expensive and glam. Try it on. Put it on hold. Leave. Go home and pour a glass of wine or bake brownies.

Option b)Meet a friend for lunch or mani/pedi. If that's not an option I'll settle for a chatty phone call

Option c)Glass of wine after kiddo put-downs and go play in your closet. Plan the next day's outfit; pick out something you wouldn't normally wear on a regular day. Clearly the least expensive and most creative option.
Besides, everything feels better with wine on a partially empty stomach.

Option d)Internet retail therapy. Very dangerous. Don't recommend this one. Just ask my Visa statement or husband.

I just have to thank her for making me laugh on one of those days. She has become one of my favorite blog friends and her humor and style are infectious so make sure you check out her blog daily, it's a goody.

Thanks Seleta for being so cool!

The Mondays

Normally I don't mind Mondays but today I have a mild case of them. Our dishwasher is broken and I'm still waiting for the part to arrive to fix it, enough said. The boys can't seem to get along, at present they're separated so fixed for now. Lastly I'm still a little bit sad about the Cards losing the Superbowl. What do you do to cheer yourself up [when shopping therapy isn't an option]?

Our weekend

It was wonderful, this smile should say it all!

January 30, 2009

See ya!

We're off to take our big for his first Disneyland vacay. Just a quick two day trip, I hope he loves it. I must admit I adore the contrived perfectness of it all. Not a piece of trash in sight and the flowers are always gorgeous.

Wish us luck that the rides aren't too scary and the food isn't too gross. Any big plans for you this weekend?

I'm feeling a little blue

But so not in a bad way. Kinda just loving the pale blue that makes you want to relax.

Just have a cocktail, then take a nice long bath.

After which I would have to snuggle in with a good book, natch.

Doesn't that just sound delicious?

La-la-lynne

I know she looks kinda stupid in this picture but I have to admit she's really growing on me. Thoughts?

Ok and for those of you that watch the oh so trashtastic Real Housewives do you all just want to punch Shane for talking to his mother like that? Seriously, what is his problem?

Simple girly

Can you tell I'm feeling girly lately? I think it must be Valentine's Day.

Clean up

So today I spent a few hours cleaning and I still feel as though nothing is done. As I tidy up, vacuum, load dishes and fold laundry I notice that ewwwh my baseboards are gross. Then I look around some more and notice that I really need to dust. Seriously, I wonder will this cleaning bit ever end? I know that you need to stay on top of things and I try to do that but some days it feels like no matter how much I work there is always another mess to be cleaned. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the two small people living with us but they're OK so we'll let it slide.

So how much time each day do you devote to housework? Are you fastidious or a bit lax when it comes to cleaning? What is your must do before you go to bed?

Spring in my step

I just love the pink and green fresh colors in this room. Doesn't it just scream Spring?

Angel wings

I loved the one that Jordan made, so I was excited when I found this on Etsy. Now I just need to find a baby so I can buy one.

Love Mix

Cassette tapes bring me back to the good ole' days which is why I love this little Love Mix bag. I loved making mixed tapes with my friends, my favorites were the ones we would make for summer and spring breaks. Fun memories that's for sure.

Don't you think it would be so cute with a Valentine inside?

I love muscles!

One of my neighbors has one of these except in black. I secretly love it and and want to drive all over town in it pretending to be Kelly Garrett.

January 23, 2009

Do you ever have days like that?

I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I just hate that. I think I'll go get a cup of coffee and maybe I will be feeling more cheery in a bit.

Looks like Heaven

Pavlova is my most favorite dessert, I always request it instead of a cake for my birthday. Look what I found, a chocolate one - YUM! I know it won't replace my love for the classic but I need to find a reason to make it pronto.

What's in a name?

OK I need some help and I thought who better to come to than you! As many of you know I'm a Pilates instructor and I teach at a local studio [which I LOVE] but every now and again I get a request to teach privates with friends or family. So this year I've decided to make that happen by setting myself up with some business cards if someone is interested. So I need to come up with a name for my teeny little venture.

I'm not looking to be the next Mari Windsor or anything; but if a neighbor asks and doesn't want to make the drive to the studio I teach at I would love to be able to do it myself at their home. So please help, I'm taking any and all suggestions! You can comment or email me at sarahsfabday[at]gmail[dot]com.

Stop it already!

Seeing this movie poster with Renee Zellweger's pursed lips makes me not want to see the flick. I know it's silly, stupid and a bit immature but this face that she makes drives me crazy. If I see her in a movie I'm always completely distracted by her wacky expressions.

I don't mind her acting but...ugh, I can't seem to get past it. Am I alone in this kind of weirdness?

Twisty

This Dolce & Gabbana Coin Charm Necklace looks a little like a twisty jewelry mess and I LOVE it.

Happy Monday

It's Monday and this print says it all! Have a fun, fun day!

Abracadabra!

I just saw this on Material Girls and I know it sounds lame but I'm going to be dreaming of this chair tonight. I wish I could wriggle my nose and a pair would magically appear.

C'mon admit it, am I the only one who literally dreams about furniture? I really, really like shoes and handbags but any coveting dreams are usually reserved for furniture. What makes you lose sleep at night?

January 16, 2009

Happy weekend and may the force be with you!

So after a long day of procrastination I really need to get to it! My big's 5th birthday is tomorrow and I have to admit it's a little bittersweet. When kids turn 5 they all of the sudden seem older and I don't know if I'm ready for that. We are getting ready for a Star Wars birthday party tomorrow with family and for his big "tada" we are taking him to Disneyland at the end of the month. So Mama has a lot to do!

So I need to get to cleaning and head to the groc. What's on the agenda for you this weekend?

Oh the chair

While the magnolia in the photo is so pretty I'm really just digging the chair behind it.

Candy stripes

I'm dreaming of the beach and it's gorgeous here, 70's. So I know it's kinda like looking a gift horse in the mouth but who doesn't love the beach? I have a little obsession with changing houses maybe because I've never seen them in person, it must be an East coast thing. I love this one with it's girly candy stripes. I just wish the railing was all one color though then it would be totally perfect.

I'll take Hawaii

Right now I'm dreaming of going to Hawaii, one of my girlfriends is there now and I'm totally jealy. One of my favorite vacations ever was The Big Island and we stayed here.

Isn't it gorge? Its a Frank Lloyd Wright design adapted by Taliesin Architects for the Hawaii location. It's as cool inside as it out, all of the furnishings were FLW designed too. I'm dreaming of it now, a cool house to stay in at night and nice sandy beaches during the day. Doesn't it sound divine?

[I grabbed the photo and didn't save the photographer, so if it's yours let me know ASAP and I'll link ya.]

Today is crazy so I'll just post something pretty from the fabulous Windsor Smith.
Have a good one!

Bloggers Pre-Sale

Pieces of Atlanta is offering an extra 30% off [yep that's what I said] if you mention Sarah's Fab Day today through the 14th. Yippeee! We all love a good sale and I would love to use the discount on this pillow.

Live and in person

One of the coolest invitations ever! A bride and groom had the artists who print the posters for the Grand Ol' Opry make their wedding invite, j'adore.

Yay for Kate!

Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses she's brilliant in every role she plays. Gorgeous but still approachable and perfectly flawed. Congrats to her for 2 Golden Globe wins, so exciting.

Twists or braids?

I know the twists are the it hairdo but I'm still fawning over braids. Especially when they look like the ones shown at Lela Rose Spring 2009.

I still haven't done it

Here is another of my favorite closets. I love the light fixture and the wallpaper, adorbs. Alas, I still have not completed my closet makeover. This weekend. Promise!

Thanks Martha

Sometimes I wonder whatever did we do before we had Martha? The boys made a couple of these today and it was the perfect little afternoon activity. Totally easy and totally adorable, my kind of project.

Gallery wall

I got a West Elm catalog in yesterday's mail and was pleasantly surprised by the art prints they are selling. Bright, graphic and colorful. I know not super individual but I have to admit I'm digging the look.

Catch all

I've decided that my car needs a basket one that hops in with me in the morning and heads back inside when we're home. I can set it by the door so I can throw in anything that I will need for the day, returns, forms, snacks for the kids, etc. Not to mention while we're out I can put anything into the basket that I don't want to lose [or stuff in my handbag] to make sure it actually makes it out of the car.

Here are a few baskets that have my fancy. I can't decide big or one that flattens.

All baskets from The Container Store.

Arrange it

I'm insanely jealous of those that can just whip up a little vignette and have it look like perfection. I want all my goodies placed just so on my tables and in my bookcases. I feel like mine are always a work in progress and nothing special.
How does one come up with the sublime mix? It's always so hard finding just the thing with the perfect scale. I feel like I have tons of odds and ends and I hate it when my stuff looks like a jumble. So it goes back into storage waiting for it's shining moment; that I can tell you almost never comes.

I'm pretty sure I need styling lessons from these talented peeps. You know who I'm talking about, the always flawless Anna and Eddie.

One of these days

While I'm at it with the closet maybe I should do the pantry and my spice cabinets. It's times like these that I wish I were a bit more OCD.
