High/Low

I always get a charge looking at High/Low room comparisons. This one from Style at Home is really a particularly good one.

I'm sure you can tell right off which one is high and which is low, honestly though don't you think they're both good?

Happy weekend!

Make it a good one friends.

This is why kids are hilarious

{Kids in the "We love each other and we're both so happy about this picture" Let me tell you this doesn't happen too often.}

Big: Mom you look 38.
Me: Feeling puzzled because no I'm not yet 38.
Big: You look really tall in those shoes.
Me: Love that tall = old.

Early morning activities in the SFD house.
Big standing on the sofa, Little running around crazy.
Realize that the game is Big throwing the football at Little's head.
Hmmm...this could get ugly but it doesn't matter because apparently Little digs getting beaned in the head. This explains a lot.

Little running ahead.
Little: First one there is a rotten egg!
Me thinking, you got that right kiddo. I can't bear to correct him, it's funny shiz my friends. {This one has gotten even better because I realized today that he was saying, "first one gets a rotten egg". Hahaha, I love them.}

Wow, I'm healthy

FYI, this is what I ate this morning for breakfast. I started with a few cups of this
Moved on to a few handfuls of this, ok maybe more than a few.
Plus a {large) handful of these to finish up.

I felt like I had to come clean. Not too nutritious but definitely hit all the bright spots caffeinated, cheesy/salty and sweet. Anyone else eat the world's healthiest breakfast?

Simply Seleta

Did you see that Simply Seleta has a new blog? Well kind of, same great stuff just a new web address. In honor of her new blog the fabulous Tracery Interiors has graciously given Seleta some pretty swell baskets to giveaway.

Make sure you ENTER!

Cavallini & Co Decorative Wrap

A couple of weeks ago I was in an art supply store getting a drawing pad for Big's art class and they had a huge selection of gorgeous Cavallini & Co. decorative papers. Yes they're for wrapping gifts but I say they're much too pretty. I think framing them would be even better. A great inexpensive way to add some on trend art.

Unfortunately the website doesn't show all of the good stuff that they have, I say check out your local retailer.

Stencil on the ceiling?!

This one sure took some patience but that ceiling sure is a beaut! Seeing this makes me want to stencil.

Don't worry I most likely won't, my husband would definitely tell me to get off the train to crazytown. For more of the transformation check it out at Three Men and a Lady.

Love it :: Flower Garland

One of the prettiest parties I've seen in a long time. No surprise that it was produced by the phenomenal Sunday Suppers peeps.

See it HERE

A little yellow with a smidge of me

If you've been wondering where I've been it's just been a busy few days. Last Friday I had my cutie pie nephew for the day so he lucked out with an afternoon snack of Yogurtland (newest obsession) with Little and I. Then Saturday morning Mr. SFD and I headed to Colorado for a family wedding. Sunday we came home and then yesterday I taught all morning. Whew. At this point you're probably thinking, "blah, blah blah, let's see something pretty". I know, not super exciting but the pretty that I can do.

Yellow is the perfect seasonal transitional color don't you think? It starts buttery and pale in the spring then turns saturated and cheery for summer and finishes rich and deep for autumn. I'll be honest I like all of those shades but I think the summer version moving into fall is my favorite.

Sadness

I have some bad news folks. My girl at Scented Glossy Magazines has decided to hang it up. She of all things Bravo and random hilarious shiz, like actually answering one of those spam emails about wanting a "friend". I'm beside myself, what am I going to do?

Here's to you SGM!

Maybe I'll just start from the beginning and re-read all of her archives. If you've never clicked though to SGM on my Fab Reads list you must do it now. Oh Glossy, who am I going to discuss these VERY important television related things with??

Love it :: Bow Tie Not Optional

I think this necklace would look very cute around my neck.

Not to mention so would their other accessories. Cute stuff.

Love it :: Just Noey

I love it when I stumble upon something super cool! These letter plates from Just Noey are totally cute although I don't know what I would use them for. Hmmm...I guess it doesn't really matter, a plate covered with treats like breakfast food and desserts can never be bad.

It's a big day today

Just in case you were wondering we have a first grader here.

Knock it off :: Leopard wedges

The Alexander Wang wedges that had all of us girls swooning have been knocked off.
Not quite the same but close enough for me, I'll take it.
Thanks Nina!

Cuckoo for school supplies

Summer is coming to an end here, school starts for Big on Tuesday. I'm excited for him because he's so excited for first grade. This year for his class instead of going out and buying school supplies I just have to write a check for the whole year that includes all supplies and field trips. While it's mighty convenient, he (really me) was bummed that we didn't have to go out and get school supplies.

There's nothing better than fresh clean folders and brand new crayons, am I right? I think this might be one of those things where I become a total weirdo because I'm super picky about all writing utensils. Last year when we bought pencils for home I had to get the more expensive black Ticonderogas because a jar full of black pencils looks much better than that awful yellow color. And those Pink Pearl erasers? Junk. I have to get the white Pentel erasers that are perfection in every way, well as far as erasers go. Those supply lists are brutal because they're so specific and I get what it says on the list but I almost couldn't buy the Crayola colored pencils last year. I remember being a kid and getting my hands on a pack of Prismacolors and wondering where they had been all my life. The colors were so vibrant, they didn't look like my work had faded in the sun. Crummy regular colored pencils would never do. So maybe since Big (and me) can't go out and buy school supplies we need to make a trip to an office supply store and load up. I think Primsacolors might be just what the doctor ordered for these last days of summer.

Good lookin' stairs

I live in a one-story house but having grown up in a two-story house I'm pretty impartial when it comes to which is better. But let's just say I did have stairs, I love the candy striped runner and the great mix of children's art, mementos and photos in these two images.

House Rules

I just spotted this photo on LaLaLovely and thought was a perfect way to use chalkboard paint. Nothing like a special place to remind the fam of what's really important.
