My Oscar observations

While everyone else is breaking down the Oscars fashion I will be sharing a few observations I made throughout.

Reese Witherspoon's giant pony actually made her look a little like a My Little Pony

(While finding a picture I realized that her hair was some odd half-up, half-down concoction with that being said yes strange but still channels Pony as in My Little.)

Wow Weight Watchers got the best ad in Jennifer Hudson. Diet and exercise looks good on you!

One reason I hate HD is that you notice things like how tired people look. I can't be the only one who noticed James Franco's fatigue. My husband said his eyes looked like they had vampire circles and I tend to agree. I couldn't find the right picture of Mr. Franco but trust me he looked like a bored blood-sucker.

{Here is she is in her botoxed glory}

Nicole Kidman's forehead actually moved!  I promise, I saw it with my own eyes when they showed her during her nomination for Best Actress. Seriously Nicole you look good with a wrinkle between your eyes. Thankfully you saw the light and decided to stop it already with the botox. When your forehead is so shiny and smooth you look like some eerie weird wax figure.  Sidenote: I wrote this post last night and figured I could snag images this morning, it seems I'm not the only one with a strange fascination with "The Forehead".  You must see this, hilarious!

I wish, wish, wish I had thick hair so I could wear it like Annie did in the gold de La Renta gown.

Please dish your observations and your faves in comments. It's Monday morning for heavens sake, no working just playing!

Make It :: Croque Monsieur

I know by now you've all probably seen It's Complicated and fawned over it's gorgeous sets on all of the design blogs.
And laughed (a lot) at the hilarious Meryl and Alec.
But now let's get down to something super important. Seriously, how yummy did all of the food look in that flick? Her darling bakery with the all of the breakfast goodies, yum and gorge. But the the big moment for me came when she made the Croque Monsieur and served it with a frisee salad. I was ready to run out of the movies and make one myself.
I haven't done it yet but it's on the books to try.
Croque Monsieur
{recipe via Epicurious}

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1 bay leaf
4 slices firm white sandwich bread
4 ounces thinly sliced Black Forest ham
4 ounces sliced Gruyère cheese
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/4 cup grated Gruyère cheese
2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and stir 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk. Add nutmeg and bay leaf. Increase heat to medium-high and boil until sauce thickens, whisking constantly, about 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Preheat broiler. Place 2 bread slices on work surface. Top each with half of ham and sliced Gruyère. Top with remaining bread. Heat heavy large skillet over low heat. Brush sandwiches with 1 tablespoon melted butter. Add to skillet and cook until deep golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to small baking sheet. Spoon sauce, then grated cheese over sandwiches. Broil until cheese begins to brown, about 2 minutes.

The September Issue

Last night I attended the Phoenix premiere of The September Issue.
Lots of fun and pretty much what I expected. Anna is the fabulous ice queen but what I didn't expect is how much I would come away loving Grace Coddington.

Like totally love, she's great!

Food, Inc.

I haven't seen this yet but plan to. Anyone else seen it yet?

Ok, I will step down from my soapbox now.

Julie & Julia

I'm chomping at the bit to see Julie & Julia. Last summer I read My Life in France, I just got a peek at Julia's kitchen set created for the movie and I think Amy Adams is simply adorable. Recipe for a delish movie.

Any of you excited as moi?

Secretly geeky

I love fashion and adore design as much as the next girl, but secretly I'm also a sci-fi geek. I'm hoping to see this sometime this weekend.

Stop it already!

Seeing this movie poster with Renee Zellweger's pursed lips makes me not want to see the flick. I know it's silly, stupid and a bit immature but this face that she makes drives me crazy. If I see her in a movie I'm always completely distracted by her wacky expressions.

I don't mind her acting but...ugh, I can't seem to get past it. Am I alone in this kind of weirdness?

Yay for Kate!

Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses she's brilliant in every role she plays. Gorgeous but still approachable and perfectly flawed. Congrats to her for 2 Golden Globe wins, so exciting.

Batman

Not only did I shop Saturday the hubs and I made it out to see The Dark Knight and get a bite to eat. Not bad for one day. Christian Bale doesn't disappoint in this flick, he's still handsome as ever and the movie was good.

I loved this dress that Maggie Gyllenhaal wears in the movie, too bad I couldn't find a better picture.
