Barn Doors

Since yesterday I was on a door kick I thought I would continue it today just a bit, except I'm loving this whole look not just the doors.

Antique Doors

Everyone has their thing and mine is antique doors and hardware. Nothing makes my heart soar more than old, peeling paint, gorgeous doors so I thought I would put together a few that make me swoon.

Batman

Not only did I shop Saturday the hubs and I made it out to see The Dark Knight and get a bite to eat. Not bad for one day. Christian Bale doesn't disappoint in this flick, he's still handsome as ever and the movie was good.

I loved this dress that Maggie Gyllenhaal wears in the movie, too bad I couldn't find a better picture.

No I don't fish

I never thought I would see the day that I would actually want to go to Bass Pro Shop but after seeing this basket on Poppytalk the kids and I might be taking a field trip.

Speidi please

A little bit ago Paige at I *Heart* You had a post about the 5 people she would like to put in a rocket and shoot into outer space, I've decided these two are at the top of my list.

Spencer the Gremlin must go and Heidi while you are quite pretty with your new face you are still beyond annoying and your short shorts and high heels make me want to puke. Sorry you two have a first-class ticket, buh-bye.

For the record my other picks are as follows: Katherine Heigl, Gloria Estefan, Paris Hilton & W. Since Speidi has a name combo moniker they have to share a seat. Please feel free to list your picks too.

Saturday

Saturday my mom and I got some good ole' shopping in. We weren't looking for anything we were just doing a little window shopping at a few of our favorite shops, which is my favorite thing to do. Our first stop was Domestic Bliss, which is such cute shop that has all sorts of lovely furniture, home accessories and clothing.

They just opened a studio next to their shop that has lots of classes, including ones taught by Heather Bailey. The space is beyond cute I would love to settle in there for some me time, you can check out their blog here.

Next we hopped on the freeway and went to Willows. This is the store that I would love to just move right into. I found some gorgeous pendant lights there that would be perfect over my island, I just need to talk the hubs into it.
**I forgot to mention that you can purchase the Christoper Jagmin tableware from my earlier post at Willows.**

While I was out I picked up the Eat.Shop.Phoenix Guide, it's full of lots of yummy restaurants and hip shopping, it was full of places that I love and a few that I haven't tried yet. They have Eat.Shop Guides for lots of cities and I would recommend them for anyone traveling that doesn't want to do the usual chain fare.

We did hit a couple other stores but I had to share my two favorites. We finished up our trip with a stop at Sprinkles (yes now I'm hooked) and I had the dark chocolate cupcake.

Yum.

Christopher Jagmin

I love the tableware by local Phoenix artist Christopher Jagmin it was inspired by his love of typography, I'm sure something we can all relate to.

Happy Weekend!

Relax and have a wonderful weekend.

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

I'm currently reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle at the recommendation of a friend, it's a memoir of Barbara Kingsolver's family starting the journey of eating organic, locally grown and raised food for one year.

It's really good, although it got off to a rocky start (just a wee bit preachy in the beginning) but it's really got me thinking about trying to be a little more conscientious about what we eat. Do you guys try to eat locally or is heading to your local groc much easier?

Dreaming of the beach

The changing rooms at the beach featured on Poppytalk have me longing for some sand and a beachy breeze.

R.I.P.

I'm beside myself with grief that Will got voted off SYTYCD last night.

Duck, duck, goose!

I often wonder what makes a child tick, why for instance that it's always so much more fun to pick the one thing that your brother might want. Tonight well actually every night the boys fight over a duck towel, one of them is always in tears if that frickin duck towel is in rotation.

The towel in question, looks like this boy loves it too, shocking!

This towel is nothing special it was like from Kohl's or something. My Little loves ducks so now that my Big knows this it's an all out war. I even suggested that we just go there and buy another one since it was it was so cheap and Big says, "No, I only like that towel." Should I buy another one or burn the one we have?

Hampton Chandelier

I've never been a huge fan of capiz shells but since seeing them with a traditional silhouette I might be a convert.

Sprinkles Cupcakes

They opened a Sprinkles Cupcakes in town and because it's summer and we have nothing better to do I'm thinking of putting the kids in the car and taking a trip up there to check it out. Anyone know is it really worth it?

I'm dreaming of a new tub...

One of the things that I would really like to change about our home is the master bath. It's not that it's horrid it's just really nothing special, pretty much your standard, run of the mill, new home job. We do bathe the kids in our bathroom because it's easier so my big dream when they graduate into their own bathroom is to spruce mine up. I've never been a bath taker but since I've had children it really is a nice way to unwind so I would love a big, freestanding tub.

With light similar to this

I haven't exactly settled myself on what paint, cabinets, fixtures or wall lights but it's nice to have a plan, so anyone with any suggestions I would welcome them.

Wednesday night is lookin' good!

I've been so busy the past few Wednesday night's with SYTYCD and Project Runway I've neglected another fave.

Yes I love Run's House. This family is seriously funny!

Perfect Circle

I was fawning over Scott Laslie's work on Desire to Inspire then I thought, "where have I seen that before?"

Then I remembered the delicious Laura Kirar chair that was featured in the July House Beautiful. Which incidentally was pretty much perfection to me cover to cover.

Fall look

If I had the dough I would most certainly pick this necklace up for fall, it's definitely a statement piece and I love it!

Lucky me, Net-a-porter shows what to go with it to make it a one-stop shop so in my little fantasy I would also be getting these shoes to go with it.

So cozy

I love this comfy alternative to kitchen stools.

Do you think it's weird?

I've been thinking, I love reading blogs where people talk about not only about what they love but also about their personal lives. Please see examples A, B, C, D & E. It makes them seem a little more real I guess. Is it weird that I feel strange posting my biz out there for everyone to see?

{Lovely image from My Poloroid Blog}

I sit here day in and day out telling people what's making my heart flutter (it's always goods people) yet I don't think that I share too much. Honestly I feel strange posting pictures of myself, the hubs or especially my boys because they didn't ask to be part of my blog. The thing is I almost feel at times I have met (virtually of course) some pretty damn cool bloggers that I would love to share my crazy personal details with so why not? Anyone else out there feel the same way, like you're a big, fat cheater?

Fifi Lapin

One of my favorite stops is to see what darling Fifi Lapin is wearing. Today she is wearing a look from Chanel that is oh so chic! She is one lucky bunny.

You can purchase Fifi's looks at her Etsy shop.

Be still my heart, my favorite Ghost Chair has spawned a lil' chair and it's named Lou Lou Ghost. So beyond adorable!

He's in their clutches

Is it bad that I my two year old points out this logo every time he sees it and says, "Look Mommy, it's copsie" just in case I might miss the Starbucks, therefore missing my caffeine which in their eyes probably makes me much nicer.

Blueprint Fruit Cocktail

I know that I have already rhapsodized about my love of rhubarb so imagine my excitement when I found this oldie but goodie from an old Blueprint magazine.

A strawberry-rhubarb cocktail, yum what's not to love?

Red

Red is my favorite color and I love how the tightly packed carnations look all ruffly and fresh.

Just a tad under the weather

Sorry my posts have been light lately, but I haven't quite been feeling myself and then bam yesterday I'm totally sick.

Not the best position to be in with two shrimps and a husband that travels, so I'm just trying to get by so please bear with me. :)

Confessions

I have another confession...I'm very eagerly awaiting the book Breaking Dawn the 4th book in the Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series. I know, I know what am I like 16?

But it's so good I can't wait!

Movie Night

I love old movies and I can't wait until the boys and I can settle in on the couch with a bucket of popcorn and classic flick. Until then I'm going to have to get this book so I can get my picks all lined up.

I love simple, easy food and this looks like it fits the bill perfectly.

Beachy Keen

I love this swim look by Ashley Paige, if it were me I'd be ready to rock the pool!

It's a barn!

We're back from our trip and it went by all too fast. The weather was perfect and my boys had so much fun. When we got there and hopped on the road to get to my grandparents my older son shouted from the backseat, "It's a barn, a real barn!" I had to laugh because he had no idea that he was going to see lots of barns on the way there.

It was wonderful to see family and experience the small town vibe for a couple of days. I loved the wonder on my four year old's face as he enjoyed a slightly sticky day filled with caterpillars and swimming. I didn't get a chance to do the shopping as I had hoped but the time spent with family was much more fun.

Thrill of the hunt

I'm totally in the market for trophies and antique keys so while I'm in Nebraska cross your fingers that I find either.

I know weird, but it's a good place to find antiques. You pretty much buy 'em right from the source so there isn't too many middlemen.

We're off!

Today I'm headed to Nebraska to visit my grandparents with the hubs and kids. This will be the first time I have taken the littles back and I'm so excited. We are headed to a little town called Hastings, both my mom and dad are from there so I spent a lot of time there as a child. I have probably romanticized it just a tad (in my own head) but I really can't wait to take the kids there to show them the places that I loved.

Fisher Fountain was kitty-corner from my grandparents old house so you could see it at night, I loved it! It's a landmark from the Great Depression built as a symbol of hope during such a difficult time.

My other favorite spot was the Hastings Museum of Natural and Cultural History. I couldn't get enough of the wildlife dioramas.

Not to mention Hastings is the birthplace of Kool-Aid, whoo hoo! I haven't actually had the pleasure of attending Kool-Aid days but what the hell maybe one of these days.

I would have loved to have shared some more photos but couldn't really find any. I did find a historic one of my grandparent's old house where my mom grew up and where they lived when I would visit them as a child but all I could come up with was a link, (so if you have time scroll through the slideshow to the 1136 N. St. Joseph one). I guess a town like this is probably where I get my love of all things old.
