The minute I read your post I thought Front Porch! and when I clicked on comments I love seeing that a few others love a good porch too. Mine needs a big old swing on it, just like I had when I was little.
I don't really have a favorite element, though there are many little things that make my heart skip a beat, especially old built-in cabinets and leaded glass.
My house is a light yellow that none other than Heather Chadduck recommended in an issue of Cottage Living! It's called Birds-eye Maple, but looks more yellow than tan. There's a pic on my blog :)

Oh I too love a yellow house - what could be more charming?
A sun porch. I've always wanted one! All closed in with glass, plants and cushioned furniture - it just sounds so dreamy...

I would like to have a nice backyard. I love our apartment, but we only have decks facing a not-so-lovely alley.
There is something so inviting about a yellow house. Gorgeous image1
