It's Daria

I remember watching MTV over at my neighbor Shannon's house after school. She was cool, she had cable back before everyone had it. I'm fairly positive I was in on the very beginning of it. MTV my darling constant companion for many years. I think the last thing that I actually watched was The City. I mean who wouldn't want to watch the goings on at DVF, Kelly Cutrone's and the uber-b Olivia's outfits? Even though I'm still obsessed with Olivia's outfits I'm not so much by MTV, however I saw this and wished it were real.

Daria. My favorite all-time MTV show. I would love to see this in real life.

Do you TV?

When my husband and I got married and moved in together there was one sticky point that we hadn't worked out. It was a little tiff about having a TV in the bedroom.  I was vehemently against it and he was pro-TV all the way. I caved and became pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed having a TV in our room. There's nothing better than a lazy Sunday afternoon spent in your cozy bed watching a movie or the TV lulling you to that drowsy place. Well it's been awhile and lately I haven't been quite as enamored with it. I'll give you a little back story, I have insomnia from time to time and I've found that any extra light in our room wakes me up. So add in the light from the cable box and the DVD player our room is like a regular Las Vegas.

So I decided to do a little experiment, last week my husband had to take a short trip and I decided that for the few nights he was gone I was going to do no TV. Just reading in bed just like I had always done practically my whole life. Guess what? No problems sleeping or settling down at all. I clued my husband into this little experiment and he said that he's down to try it. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Do you keep a TV in the bedroom and if so has the love waned?

Olympics

Well done Procter & Gamble, I cry every time I see this commercial.

 Full disclosure, I also cry when talking about this commercial. It's official I've hit complete sapdom.

Want it :: Necklace

Just as I was busy complaining about how lame Hart of Dixie is they go and have one of the characters wear a necklace like this.

Crap. Now I'm still going to have to watch because I love the clothes. I know this image has crappy resolution but Lemon (yes, I know Lemon.Yikes.) is wearing a necklace with pearls and gold spikes. Lo-ove, totally and completely. I must know where she found it. Ideas?

PS - Please don't judge. I can't help myself if there's good clothes.

[pretty sure this is it. woot!]

Randomness :: TV dilemma

I've watched the new Rachel Bilson show and every time I watch and see this

 I think when are Lorelei and Rory going to show up fresh from their breakfast at Luke's Diner?

Maybe I'm too old since I remember the set from Gilmore Girls, maybe Hart of Dixie just sucks and I need to just stop watching or maybe I have too much time on my hands...I can't decide. Is it weird that I still miss Gilmore Girls?

TV Show Sofa

Have I mentioned that I'm slightly obsessed with the sofa from the TV show New Girl? Here are a couple shots of it I found but I need to find a really good one. It's a all broken in and cozy but totally cool at the same time.

Sorry about the pictures I'm too lazy to do screen shots so I'll just use the ones from Fox's website. Very small but you can kinda see it.

Is it weird that I watch shows because I like what the sets look like? I also do this with movies; I will watch them over and over because I like the sets.

To Do :: Long Weekend

Aaahhhh!! I've been working a lot (which I love) but it's kept me away from you lovelies. So this is what I'm thinking for the long weekend.

{Yes that's Kara Janx from Project Runway}

All On The Line, the best fashion show on TV that you can catch on the Sundance Channel. It's hosted by the coolest cat out there Joe Zee. Seriously peeps this is good stuff. Not like my Bravo cotton candy, it's an actual meal and it's delicious.

My interpretation of the Citrus Cucumber Margarita from True Food Kitchen.
Citrus Cucumber Margarita
(for one cocktail)
1 shot silver tequila
Juice of 3 limes
Juice of 1/4 clementine
2 tsp. simple syrup (you could use agave syrup instead)
Ice
Splash of club soda
Garnish with 2 cucumber slices, 1 clementine slice and some torn fresh mint.

Thrifting with friends. Do you thrift? I'm so hit or miss. Usually it's a miss but I have a friend who always hits and with clothes (I know) and I'm always amazed, so I must go with her to pick up some tips.

The Pomegranate Cafe, if you're an East Valley Phoenix local you must try this place. I'm obsessed. It's delicious and so healthy I want to pat myself on the back after I eat there. Like them on FB and here's the link for the latest menu. I had the Green Garden Protein Bowl this morning for breakfast, soooo YUM.

Turquoise Sparkle Polish, One of my pilates clients this week has been rocking a glittery turquoise pedi and I'm so jealy. I must get this fabulous polish immediately. You know I don't wear blue except for turquoise especially on my toes so I'm excited to make a blue exception.

Just a few things

I still not sick of maps. Love 'em.

This idea is the coolest. I don't know where I would ever try it but I really want to. Gold painted faux moulding? Yes please.

And lastly are you watching Real Housewives of New Jersey? I had broken up with it but now I'm back after watching the premiere episode. These people are nuts and I'm suckered right in with them. Here is a little taste of what you're missing. Meet Theresa's brother Joe and his wife Melissa. They are the newest cast members and they're walking into the church for the baby's christening. Yes, wearing something more appropriate for a night out in Atlantic City. These people never cease to amaze me.

Catch up on the brills recap by our favorite SGM.

March 30, 2011

If you don't know, don't read.

Just a few things.

1. Yay!! My sweet geek crush Richard Blais won Top Chef.

2.  I loved that on the Top Chef finale they didn't talk about Curtis Stone being an anything more than an "acclaimed" chef. What they should of said was super hot chef with accent who also already does reality TV.  Doesn't matter with him as the host I'll totally watch Top Chef Masters. No worries Bravo I'm already yours but he does sweeten the deal.

3.  Did you hear?! Brad's getting his own show!

Pee Wee's Playhouse

On a scale of 1 to 10 how nerdy do you think it is that I sat through the HBO special Pee Wee's Playhouse?  I LOVED that show when I was a kid. I was even 11ish when it started but I still watched it religiously every Saturday. I thought it was hilarious and apparently still do. The fact that during Cartoon Time they showed Penny was the cherry on top.  Penny is the shiz. (Ooh this one is good too!)

I even had this magazine back in the day, my parents got it for me because I loved Pee Wee so much.  Anyone else watch it?

Dish with me

My diet went well. I didn't feel deprived for one second. It was touch and go for a moment just remembering to snap a picture but it was good.  There were a few things I noticed while I was gone that I wanted to share with you but since I was dieting I decided to wait.

1. I think I need a stylish BFF that wears glasses with thick rims. Think Brad or Tommy. And apparently striped ties.

 2. Don't you think accessories are a quick way to spruce up what you have going on in your closet? Here are a few things that my closet is wishing for this spring. Wedges and new sunnies.

3. Let's talk TV for one moment, have you been watching Real Housewives of Orange County? It's so bad I have to cover my eyes at least 10 times per episode. Hopefully I can make it through. Tamra is pitiful and Gretchen and Slade? Eww, no more morning shots please I might just die. Do you watch Glee? I don't normally talk about it but I think that Blaine is my absolute favorite character and he's not even one of the main ones. He's just so adorable and is the best male singer hands down. Lastly on the subject the show that I love watch and am slightly embarrassed about is Kourtney and Kim take New York. Why? I have no idea, I'm like one of million other people in America, fascinated by the Kardashians. I definitely think that Khloe and Kourtney is where the entertainment is but Kim is stunning so I guess she can be allowed to stay.

Sorry, I know it's early but doesn't this slightly make you want to barf?

My Oscar observations

While everyone else is breaking down the Oscars fashion I will be sharing a few observations I made throughout.

Reese Witherspoon's giant pony actually made her look a little like a My Little Pony

(While finding a picture I realized that her hair was some odd half-up, half-down concoction with that being said yes strange but still channels Pony as in My Little.)

Wow Weight Watchers got the best ad in Jennifer Hudson. Diet and exercise looks good on you!

One reason I hate HD is that you notice things like how tired people look. I can't be the only one who noticed James Franco's fatigue. My husband said his eyes looked like they had vampire circles and I tend to agree. I couldn't find the right picture of Mr. Franco but trust me he looked like a bored blood-sucker.

{Here is she is in her botoxed glory}

Nicole Kidman's forehead actually moved!  I promise, I saw it with my own eyes when they showed her during her nomination for Best Actress. Seriously Nicole you look good with a wrinkle between your eyes. Thankfully you saw the light and decided to stop it already with the botox. When your forehead is so shiny and smooth you look like some eerie weird wax figure.  Sidenote: I wrote this post last night and figured I could snag images this morning, it seems I'm not the only one with a strange fascination with "The Forehead".  You must see this, hilarious!

I wish, wish, wish I had thick hair so I could wear it like Annie did in the gold de La Renta gown.

Please dish your observations and your faves in comments. It's Monday morning for heavens sake, no working just playing!

Love it :: Blair Waldorf

While we're on the subject of fashion did you watch Gossip Girl last night? Seriously Blair could not have looked more beautiful during last night's party du jour.

These images don't do the gown justice! This dress with her hair and makeup were stunning, stuff dreams are made of. Not to mention her other looks weren't too shabby either.

You know I love some daytime sparkle!

Elle + Parenthood

When my Elle magazine arrived in my mailbox this month I was excited to read it because it featured one of my low brow favorites...TV!  I was excited to see the ladies from my favorite show Parenthood featured in one of the pictorials.  So I thought maybe we should discuss the importance of what is going on in this photo.

1.  Don't take this the wrong way but doesn't lovely Lauren Graham look just a wee bit too photoshopped?  One of the best things about her is she looks real, thin and gorgeous but real. Here she looks almost lollipop headish.
2.  I've come around to really liking Erika Christenson's character Julia but Monica Potter's Christina is still super annoying in my book. I can't decide if it's Monica or Christina?
3.  The ladies are all wearing the same shade of lipstick.  It's Chanel Coco Rouge in Gabrielle. Note to self, get this shade pronto!

So do you guys watch?  If not try it I think you'll like it.  Now on to something else about this month's Elle, please no more Katie Holmes.  Sorry, but I think she's the world's worst cover girl.  She seems to worm her way into everything and I can't figure why that happens.

TV Peeves

As you know I love to watch TV and it's been awhile since I've talked about it so I thought I would share with you one of my biggest TV pet peeves.  Do you notice anytime they show a couple in bed it's always the shrimpiest bed they can find?  Seriously what married couple do you know that sleeps in a full size bed or at best case scenario a queen?  I get it's all about the camera shot getting them both in or showing the conflict or the resolution in tight quarters but it's still annoying.  I'll be honest if Mr and I are at a hotel and we end up with two doubles we kiss each other goodnight and hop in our own beds.  So married TV couples please get bigger beds to help me manage my issues with strange things being super annoying.

PS:  My other pet peeve is that on Gossip Girl anytime they show wine or champagne it's served in a cylinder glass.  Switch it up stylists!

Oh and PPS:  I know I need to get a life. Seriously.

Lorelei and what-his-name!

Yes I'm am the world's biggest dork because my heart just did a little leap because two of my FAVORITE TV peeps are dating. I should be embarrassed that I actually proclaimed that to the world but not me, love that TV!!

See my love for Lorelei I mean Lauren and Peter here and here.

I wanna look like Kate

Well just her clothes really, I always dig her personal style. While I was out yesterday I had a few minutes to stop at a local consignment shop and I saw this

which is totally this, as seen on the most recent episode of The Rachel Zoe Project.

Although it wasn't $35 bucks it was still a good deal. Not super practical in Arizona and really where would I wear fur?
{former Kate affection can be seen here}

The Rachel Zoe Project Season 3

Oh Brad, I've missed you so.

Don't be mad but I miss Taylor too.

So let's talk Rachel Zoe, what did you think??

The City

I haven't actually been watching The City but I happen to think that The Cut's recaps (a link to the latest) are a hilarious alternative. Nothing like succinctly summing it up with lines like this:

"Poor Erin. But we knew that Louise wasn’t to be trusted. She seems like the annoying kind of girl who will agree with whomever she’s talking to. One minute she’ll tell Erin Olivia sucks and the next she’ll tell Olivia Erin sucks. But at least the show has finally cast a person with an accent."

Thank you The Cut, your recaps are mighty enjoyable and with your witty repartee I feel as though I've watched the show myself with a best pal. And no this isn't a screen shot of The City even though Olivia is miserable on the show I'm obsessed with her personal style and apparently so is The Sartorialist. A show-pony (thanks Robbie) for sure! While we're on the subject of TV I can't believe I haven't talked about SYTYCD yet. Yikes. Soon I'm sure.

True Blood

I can't wait for the scary camp of True Blood, it starts back up on June 13th.
