My ideal

My Notting Hill had a gorgeous post about formal gardens and this was one of the images. I love formal gardens, probably because I don't actually garden and I don't know how much work it entails. Sometimes I think that I need to move to a different region because many of the architectural styles that I love just don't look right in the sun saturated desert.

Since moving isn't in the cards I love to try and find homes that I think would work in Arizona. I love the courtyard of this home and the palette is great, a gardener couldn't hurt either. As usual for me, a girl can dream.

Could you imagine if we could have this option of a home without having to spend a gazillion dollars? I love it. I always think I need to move too but that isn't going to happen. :)

The neighborhood in AZ that I grew up in is starting to really mimic these styles of homes and gardens. Not the same species of plants, I'm sure, but the same overall intricate look.

Where in AZ are you?

I too used a photo from that post!... They were great photos! Love old architecture and enchanting gardens.

Speaking of gardens... once while visiting Phoenix, AZ I went to this great farm at South Mountain... ever been? If not, go! If it still exists... it doesn't feel like AZ desert at all.

I think part of the allure of the different homes is the green of surrounding vegetation, the desert is beautiful but sometimes it's awfully brown.

Thanks for the mention! I also love the Nisbet pink bathroom you posted - that wallpaper is one of my favorites.
